Dallas turf and outdoor living
Yes, we work all over Dallas
Dallas is our biggest single market and it always has been. The city runs from tight lots in the older inner neighborhoods out to big suburban yards, and the work changes street by street. Bluffview and the streets either side of Bachman Branch are all mature trees and rolling ground. Lakewood and the M Streets are small lots with big canopies. Preston Hollow has the space to build something ambitious.
Wherever it is, the crew comes from our Richardson base, which is a short run down US 75 into the city, and the whole job is handled by one company from design through installation.
What makes a Dallas yard difficult
Two things, and both of them beat grass. The first is shade. The established neighborhoods here were planted a long time ago, and a mature live oak or pecan canopy over a small lot means the lawn under it never gets enough light. Homeowners reseed it every spring and it thins out again by July.
The second is the ground. Dallas sits on the Blackland Prairie, and that black clay swells when it takes water and shrinks hard when it dries out. Over a normal Texas year it does both, dramatically, which is why paving cracks, walls lean and lawns dry out faster than the rainfall totals suggest. Every surface we build here starts with what is under it, because building on that clay as though it were stable soil is why so much outdoor work in this city fails early.
What we handle here
What we build in Dallas
Artificial Turf Installation
The classic Dallas job is a yard that has lost its battle with a shade tree. Turf does not need light, so the bare ring under the canopy, the strip along the fence and the worn track by the gate all stay green. We keep the tree roots intact, cut the turf tight to the ring and the beds, and set the falls so storm water leaves the yard instead of sitting on the clay. Our artificial turf installation is the same build on a Bluffview lot as on a Preston Hollow one, sized to the site.
Putting Green Turf
Dallas back yards are where most of our greens go in, especially in the older neighborhoods where the lot is generous and the lawn is already a lost cause. A green needs a harder, flatter base than a lawn and contours built into that base so putts actually break. Add a fringe collar and a sand bunker cut into one edge and it becomes a proper short game area rather than a novelty. Our putting green turf gets shaped on site, not ordered from a catalogue.
Patio Installation
A Dallas back yard is unusable from noon to evening for months without shade, so we build patios as outdoor rooms rather than slabs. The floor is sized against the furniture you actually own, a pergola or pavilion goes over it as part of the same project, and a fireplace pulls people back out there once the weather turns. Our patio installation takes the whole thing on at once, so the levels run true off the house and the proportions are right.
Paver Installation
Poured concrete in Blackland clay eventually cracks, and once it does the only repair is breaking it out. Pavers spread that ground movement through the joints instead, which is why we use them for patios, pool decks and courtyard floors across the city. The work is in the layers underneath: excavate to depth, compact the stone base, screed the bedding, restrain the edges. A paver surface built that way is still level in five years.
Why Dallas calls us
Why Dallas yards end up with Palms
Because one company answers for the whole yard. A lot of Dallas landscape projects get split between a designer, a stone crew and a turf installer, and the joins between them are where things go wrong. We have worked the other way since 2008: we design it, we build it, and the same family run crew is there from the first measurement to the last brush pass.
We also do the unglamorous part properly. The base, the compaction and the drainage take most of the time on our jobs and none of the photographs, and they are the reason a lawn stays flat and a patio stays level on ground that moves as much as this does. In the client's own words, we take pride in our work from design to installation, and believe the results speak for themselves.
Where you will see us in Dallas
US 75 is our road into the city from Richardson, and it drops us straight into the neighborhoods where most of our Dallas work sits. Bluffview, on the hilly ground either side of Bachman Branch off Northwest Highway, is a regular stop and the kind of terrain where levels, walls and drainage all matter at once. Preston Hollow and the streets off Preston Road give us the larger back yards.
East of the highway we are around Lakewood and the M Streets, where the lots are tighter, the canopies are enormous and every inch of the yard has to earn its place. Whichever side of the city you are on, we are working somewhere near you most weeks.
Where we work
Outdoor spaces we build in Dallas
We cover Dallas city wide, from the older shaded neighborhoods to the newer suburban yards on the edges. Right next door we also handle Highland Park and University Park, so the Park Cities and central Dallas are one run for us.
Ask a turf installer
Straight answers about artificial turf in North Texas
Do you really cover all of Dallas?
Yes, city wide. We run down US 75 from Richardson, and we work Bluffview, Preston Hollow, Lakewood, the M Streets and out to the suburban edges. There is no travel charge on an estimate.
Will turf work under the big trees in my Dallas yard?
That is one of the best reasons to install it. Turf does not need light, so the bare ring under a mature canopy finally stays green. We keep the roots intact and cut around the tree.
Why does paving crack so often in Dallas?
Blackland Prairie clay swells and shrinks with the seasons, so anything laid on it moves. Pavers on a compacted base handle that movement, while a poured slab eventually cracks across.
Can you build a putting green in a smaller Dallas back yard?
Usually, yes. Shape matters more than square footage. A curved green with real contour gives you far more shots than a flat rectangle twice the size, and it fits corners people are not using.
Do you work in Bluffview?
Regularly. The ground there rolls and the trees are mature, so those jobs usually involve levels, drainage and walls as well as turf, which is exactly the sort of project we are set up for.
Do you take on commercial work in Dallas?
Yes. Restaurant patios, courtyards, offices and apartment communities across the city, built to a heavier specification and phased so the business can stay open while we work.
