Southlake turf and outdoor living
Yes, we come out to Southlake
Southlake was named by the owner himself when he described where Palms works, and it is our furthest west town. It sits in Tarrant County on the SH 114 corridor, and it is a very different market to the inner Dallas neighborhoods: newer houses, large lots, pools, and back yards with room to build something properly.
That suits us, because our design through installation approach pays off most on a big project where turf, stone, levels and shade all have to work together. The drive out is longer than a Plano job, and we plan the work so it is done in proper runs rather than in fragments.
What makes a Southlake yard its own thing
Scale changes the brief. On a large Southlake lot the question is not how to fit a lawn in, it is what the yard should be. There is room for a pool surround, an outdoor room, a green, a run for the kids and real planting, and the risk is that all of those get bought separately over five years and never quite relate to each other.
The ground is different out here too. Southlake sits toward the western edge of the metro, out on Cross Timbers country rather than the deep Blackland clay of Dallas and Collin counties, so soil conditions can change across a single property. That matters for bases, walls and drainage, which is why we dig test holes rather than assume. The climate is the same brutal North Texas summer either way, and grass in full afternoon sun on a big open lot takes a beating.
What we handle here
What we build in Southlake
Putting Green Turf
A large back yard is where a green stops being a novelty and becomes a real short game area. With room to work we can build genuine length and elevation change, run a fringe collar the whole way round for chip and run shots, and cut a sand bunker into one edge. The contours go into the compacted base so the ball breaks properly rather than wandering. We shape each green for the yard it is in.
Sports Field Turf Supply
Where there is space, a proper practice run beats a lawn that gets destroyed by it. A goal area, a batting or hitting strip, a run for training drills: all of them wear a natural lawn into bare ground within a season and none of them touch turf. We size the surface to the sport and the ages playing, and specify the pile and infill to match. Our sports turf scales from a back yard to a full field.
Patio Installation
Big yards need an anchor, and an outdoor room is it. The floor gets sized against real furniture, a pavilion or pergola goes over it in the same project so the proportions work, and a fireplace makes the space usable through the cooler months. Built together the levels run true and the structure sits right; added piece by piece they rarely do. We build the whole outdoor room at once.
Landscape Design
The bigger the yard, the more a plan is worth. We walk the property, look at where the afternoon sun lands, where water runs in a storm and how you move between the house, the pool and the rest of the space, then set the whole thing out at once: levels, beds, lawn area, stone and routes. It can then be built in phases without anything being dug up twice. A plan drawn before anything is dug comes first on every Southlake project.
Why Southlake calls us
Why Southlake homeowners choose Palms
Because a big yard done in pieces is a big mistake. Most Southlake properties end up with a pool from one contractor, a patio from another and a lawn from a third, and the joins are where it all shows. We draw the whole yard first and then build it with our own crew, so the surfaces meet properly and there is one drainage plan rather than three.
We are also straightforward about the ground. Out here soil can change across one property, so we test it rather than assume, and the base under a terrace or a green is built for what we actually find. Palms Living Oasis is family run, has worked North Texas since 2008, and believes the results speak for themselves.
Where you will see us in Southlake
SH 114 is the road that brings us out, and Southlake Town Square at the middle of it is the landmark everybody uses. From there the work spreads out into the residential streets north and south, which is where the large lots and the pools are.
White Chapel Boulevard, Dove Road and Carroll Avenue are the routes we run most across town. These are longer projects than an inner Dallas job simply because the yards are bigger, so we program them in proper stages and keep the same crew on site throughout.
Where we work
Outdoor spaces we build in Southlake
We cover Southlake across the whole town, from Town Square out to the larger lots north and south of it. On the same western run we also serve Irving, and we work the northern corridor including Frisco up the Tollway.
Ask a turf installer
Straight answers about artificial turf in North Texas
Do you travel out to Southlake?
Yes. Southlake is on the owner's own service area list and we come out on SH 114. It is a longer run than Plano, so we program the work in proper stages rather than short visits.
Are Southlake yards big enough for a real putting green?
Usually more than big enough. With room to work we build genuine length, elevation change, a full fringe collar and a bunker, which turns it into a short game area rather than a putting mat.
Can you build a practice area for my kids in Southlake?
Yes, and large lots here suit it. A turf goal area or training run takes the wear that destroys a natural lawn, and we size the pile and infill to the sport and the ages playing on it.
Is the soil in Southlake different from Dallas?
It can be. Southlake sits toward the western edge of the metro on Cross Timbers ground rather than deep Blackland clay, and conditions can change across one property, so we test rather than assume.
Can you phase a large Southlake project?
That is often the sensible approach. We plan the finished yard first, then build it in stages in an order that means nothing has to be torn up later to reach the next piece.
Do you build outdoor rooms as well as turf?
Yes. Paved floor, pergola or pavilion and a fireplace, built as one project with the landscape around it, so the levels run true off the house and the proportions are right.
