Sports field turf supply
A surface that is playable every day
Natural sports fields in North Texas take a beating from two directions. Summer heat and drought burn them out, then a wet spring turns the center and the goal mouths to mud. Either way, the field is unusable exactly when the season needs it.
Sports turf removes the weather from the schedule. We supply and install field surfaces for schools, clubs and facilities, and we build the same thing at a smaller scale for families who want a proper goal area or practice strip at home.
Tell us the sport, the size and the site, and we will come and measure it.
Do you do home practice areas as well as full fields?
Yes, and around here that is a lot of the work. North Texas back yards produce a serious amount of soccer, and a goal in the corner of a natural lawn wears a bald crescent within a season. A turf run takes the same play with no worn patch, no re-seeding and no mud carried inside. We size the run to the age of the players and the space you have, keep it flat and true, and edge it into the rest of the yard so it still looks like a garden. It is the same build we bring to a full turf lawn, specified harder where the play concentrates.
What makes a sports surface different from a lawn?
Everything under it, plus the fibre on top. Sports turf uses a longer, tougher blade with more infill so studs can grip and the surface gives instead of grabbing. Underneath, the base is engineered flat and free draining, and a shock pad goes in where the sport and the level of play call for one. Line markings, goal fixings and run off margins get planned before the first roll is cut.
The people who look after playing surfaces for a living are worth reading on this: the Sports Field Management Association covers how these surfaces are built and maintained.

Call (972) 464-7000Is sports turf safe for young kids to play on?
It is, and it is usually safer than what it replaced. A dry, level surface with consistent give beats a rutted pitch that is rock hard in August and slick in March. Falls land on a cushioned surface rather than baked clay, and there are no holes, stones or bare patches to turn an ankle. For younger children the specification softens: shorter blade, more cushioning underneath, and no aggressive infill. If the surface is really for a play set and small kids rather than for organized sport, look at our turf for playgrounds instead.
How is a field maintained once it is down?
It gets groomed rather than grown. Brushing lifts the fibres back up and redistributes infill so the wear lanes do not go flat and slick. Infill gets topped up where play concentrates, in the goal mouths and along the touchlines. Debris gets blown or swept off before it breaks down into the pile. There is no watering, no fertiliser, no mowing and no closed weeks for recovery, which is the whole point: the maintenance is a routine job instead of a growing season.

Straight answers about artificial turf in North Texas
What sports can you supply turf for?
Soccer is the most common request here, along with general multi sport practice areas, plus basketball and volleyball surrounds. Tell us the sport and the level of play and we will spec the pile and the infill to match.
How long does a full field installation take?
It depends on the size, the ground conditions and how much drainage work the site needs. We survey it first and give you a program with real dates before anything is ordered or stripped out.
Does sports turf need a shock pad?
It depends on the sport and who is playing. Organized contact sport usually calls for one, a back yard goal area often does not. We will tell you straight which side your project falls on.
Can you install lines and markings?
Yes. Permanent markings are inlaid rather than painted on, so they do not wear off with play. Layout gets agreed with you before the surface is cut, because moving a line afterwards means cutting turf.
What happens to a sports surface in a Dallas summer?
It stays playable. It does warm up in full sun, so a rinse before an afternoon session brings the temperature down, and morning and evening play is unaffected. Nothing burns out and nothing needs reseeding.
Do you work with schools and clubs?
Yes, along with private facilities and homes. Larger projects get phased so parts of the site stay in use, and we plan deliveries and machinery access around the times the grounds are busiest.
