Allen turf and outdoor living

Yes, we work across Allen

Allen fills the gap between Plano and McKinney on the US 75 corridor, and it is a straightforward run from our yard. Most of the city went up through the 1990s and 2000s, so the houses are established, the trees are getting to a useful size, and the original lawns are now around thirty years old.

It is also a town where kids are outside constantly. That is great for a family and hard on grass, and it is the single most common reason people here call our Richardson based crew: a back yard that used to be a lawn and is now three bare patches and a mud track.

What Allen back yards go through

Wear here is concentrated rather than general. A goal in the same corner, a hoop over the same slab, a swing set landing in the same two foot strip, a route to the gate everybody takes. Grass needs recovery time it never gets in an Allen back yard, and once the ground is compacted underneath, reseeding stops working entirely.

Then there is the climate and the soil. Allen sits on Collin County Blackland clay, which bakes hard and cracks through a long hot summer and then floods when a spring storm drops more water than it can absorb. That combination is why the same yard can be dust in August and mud in April. It is also why the fix is a proper base and real drainage rather than another pallet of sod.

What we handle here

What we build in Allen

Turf for Playgrounds

Under a swing set, at the bottom of a slide, in front of a goal: these are the spots that are bare dirt by midsummer and mud all spring. A play surface fixes the ground rather than fighting it, with a cushioned layer under the turf where there is real fall height and a base that drains so kids are back out the morning after a storm. Our turf for playgrounds is specified to the ages using it.

Sports Field Turf Supply

A goal in the corner of a natural Allen lawn wears a bald crescent inside a season, every season. A turf run takes the same play with no bare patch, no reseeding and no mud carried into the house, and it drains fast enough to be usable straight after rain. We size the run to the age group and match the pile and infill to the sport. Our sports field turf supply covers back yards up to full fields.

Artificial Turf Installation

By now the trees planted when these neighborhoods were built are large enough to shade out the lawn beneath them, and the fence lines bake in full sun. Turf handles both ends of that. We strip the failing grass and the compacted top layer, build and compact a stone base, set the falls away from the house, and lay a lawn that stays level. Our turf lawns cover front and back.

Putting Green Turf

Once the kids are older, the corner that used to hold a swing set is exactly the right size for a green. We shape the break into the compacted base, set two or three cups at different lengths and add a fringe collar for chip and run shots, so it is a short game area rather than a putting mat. A green in that corner is built to roll true and hold its pace.

Why Allen calls us

Why Allen homeowners choose Palms

Because we build for how the yard is actually used. Before we spec anything we ask what happens out there: how many kids, what sport, how many dogs, where the goal goes. That decides the pile, the infill, the cushioning and where the seams run, and it is the difference between a lawn that lasts and one that flattens in the traffic lanes.

We are also close by, straight down US 75, so estimates are quick and questions get answered. Palms Living Oasis is family run and has been building outdoor spaces across this metro since 2008, handling everything from design through installation with our own crew.

Where you will see us in Allen

US 75 is the spine of the city and our route in. Watters Creek sits right off it, and the neighborhoods around that corridor are where a lot of our Allen work is. Allen Eagle Stadium up the road is the landmark that tells you how seriously this town takes its sport, and it shows in what people ask us to build at home.

Bethany Drive, Exchange Parkway and Stacy Road are the routes we run most across town, and the streets off them are where the family back yards, the goals and the play areas are. There is usually a Palms job somewhere along one of them.

Straight answers about artificial turf in North Texas

How far is Allen from your base?

A straight run up US 75 from Richardson, so it is one of the easier trips we make. There is no travel charge on an estimate anywhere in the city.

The goal has killed the corner of my Allen lawn. Can turf take it?

That is exactly what it is for. A turf run sized to the age group absorbs the same play with no bare crescent, no reseeding and no mud walked into the house.

Is turf safe under my kids play set in Allen?

Yes, with the right build. Real fall height needs a cushioned layer under the surface, and we ask the ages and check the equipment before we specify anything.

Why does my Allen yard go from dust to mud?

Collin County Blackland clay bakes hard and cracks in a long summer, then cannot absorb a spring storm. A proper base and planned drainage are what break that cycle.

Can I put a putting green where the swing set was?

Often that corner is the perfect size. A curved green with a couple of cups and genuine break gives you something to use every evening once the play equipment comes out.

Do you install turf in Allen front yards too?

Yes. Front lawns here take full sun on one side and tree shade on the other, and turf keeps both looking the same in August as they do in March.
