Turf is one part of a yard. The design, the stone, the levels and the outdoor room around it are what turn a back yard into somewhere you spend your evenings.

Why homeowners choose us

One crew, design to installation

Most yards get done in pieces. Somebody designs it, somebody else lays the stone, a third crew does the planting, and the joins are where it all goes wrong. Palms Living Oasis has worked the other way since 2008: we draw the yard, we build the yard, and one company is answerable for the result. In the client's own words, we take pride in our work from design to installation, and believe the results speak for themselves.

That matters more in North Texas than it does in most places. Black clay soil moves with the seasons, summers are long and hard, and the city and its water district set real limits on irrigation, which is why the City of Richardson pushes water wise landscaping so hard. A yard designed around those facts holds up. One designed around a picture does not. See what we handle below, or call for a free estimate.

Landscape Design

Design is where the money either works hard or gets wasted. Before anything is dug, we walk the property, look at where the sun sits through the day, where water goes in a storm, and how you actually move through the space. Then the levels, beds, borders, lawn area and stone get planned as one thing rather than four separate purchases. It is the difference between a yard that feels finished and a yard that feels like a series of projects. Our landscape design is the first conversation on almost every job we take.

Hardscaping

Hardscaping is the bones of a yard: the stone, the paving, the slabs, the edges and the levels that everything else sits inside. It is what stops a landscape looking like a lawn with some plants around it. Pool surrounds, courtyard floors, garden steps, border edging and the transitions between one surface and the next all live here, and in clay soil they all live or die on the base underneath them. Our hardscaping work is built to hold its line through the ground movement a North Texas year puts it through.

Patio Installation

A patio is the piece that decides whether the back yard gets used or just looked at. Done properly it is an outdoor room: a paved floor sized for real furniture, shade over it so it works in July, and something like a fireplace to pull people out there in January. We build the floor, the shade structure and the surround as one project, so the proportions are right and the levels run true off the house. Our patio installation covers outdoor living spaces from a simple paved terrace up.

Retaining Wall Construction

Plenty of yards here sit on a grade, and a slope is a problem you can either fight every year or solve once. A retaining wall holds the soil, turns a useless bank into flat usable ground, and keeps beds and mulch from washing across the lawn every time a storm comes through. The wall people see is the easy part. What makes it last is the footing, the backfill and the drainage behind it, which is where our retaining wall construction spends its time.

Straight answers about artificial turf in North Texas

Do you design as well as build?

Yes, and we prefer to do both. We walk the property, plan the levels, beds, lawn and stone as one scheme, then our own crew builds it. One company is responsible for the finished yard.

Can you landscape around an existing pool or patio?

Yes. Most of our jobs start with something already there. We work the new design around what stays, and match levels and edges into it so the result reads as one yard rather than two.

Do you do commercial landscaping too?

We do. Palms Living Oasis works on residential and commercial property, including courtyards, patios and shared outdoor space for restaurants, offices and apartment communities.

How does clay soil affect a landscape here?

North Texas black clay swells when it is wet and shrinks when it dries, so anything built on it moves. That is why our stone, paving and wall work all start with a proper base and drainage.

Can you do the whole yard in stages?

Yes, and it is often the sensible way. We plan the finished yard first, then build it in phases in an order that makes sense, so nothing gets torn up later to reach something else.

How long does a landscaping project take?

It depends on the size and how much groundwork is involved. We give you a real program once we have measured the site, and we tell you up front where weather can move the dates.
