Garland turf and outdoor living
Yes, we work all over Garland
Garland sits directly east of Richardson and the two cities share a border, which makes it the closest work we do. It is also one of the largest cities in the metro, running from the postwar neighborhoods near the old downtown square out to the newer subdivisions around Firewheel and toward Lake Ray Hubbard.
Most of what we do here is renovation. Older lots with mature trees, tired lawns and small builder patios, brought back into use as one yard. Our Richardson crew is over the line into Garland constantly, so callbacks and estimates are quick.
What Garland yards need most
A lot of Garland housing dates from the big postwar expansion, which means the trees around it have had sixty or seventy years to grow. The lawns under those canopies have been thinning for a generation, and the strip along a south facing privacy fence has usually been bare for as long as anyone remembers. These are not lawns that need feeding, they are yards that need a different surface.
The ground is the same Blackland clay that runs across this side of the metro, which swells and shrinks with the seasons and turns a flat yard into a lumpy one over time. Garland also gets the full North Texas weather swing, from long dry summers to storms that dump more water than clay can absorb, so drainage is usually a bigger part of the job here than people expect when they call about grass.
What we handle here
What we build in Garland
Artificial Turf Installation
The standard Garland job: a yard that has not held grass under the trees in years, and a fence line that is bare every summer. We strip the failing lawn and the top layer of soil, build and compact a stone base, set the falls so storm water leaves the property, and lay turf that stays green in the shade and the sun equally. A full turf lawn puts the whole yard back into use.
Residential Turf Installation
Garland back yards on these older lots are generous and they get used properly: kids, dogs, a grill, somewhere to sit. That is exactly the wear pattern a natural lawn cannot take without going bare in the same three places. A residential turf lawn absorbs all of it, drains fast after a storm and keeps the mud outside. A home turf lawn is specified around how the yard actually gets used.
Turf Replacement
Some yards here are already at bare dirt, and some have older artificial turf that has gone wavy or soft in a corner. Both come back to the same thing, which is what is underneath. We lift what is there, haul it away, rebuild the base and the drainage, and lay a surface that will stay flat. Our turf replacement is a rebuild rather than a cover up.
Gravel Driveway Installation
The strip along a fence, the run beside the garage, the parking area at the side of the house: these are the places gravel does real work, provided it is built in layers on prepared ground inside a firm edge. Done that way it drains beautifully and stays put. Tipped onto clay it disappears within a season. Our gravel driveway installation covers drives, parking strips and drainage borders.
Why Garland calls us
Why Garland homeowners choose Palms
We are next door, which sounds small until something needs looking at. A crew that is fifteen minutes away answers a question the same week rather than the same month, and on a renovation where surprises come up once the old surface is off, that matters.
The bigger reason is that we deal with the ground rather than the symptom. Most Garland calls start with a lawn that will not grow, and the honest answer is usually shade, compaction and drainage rather than the grass itself. Palms Living Oasis has been building outdoor spaces here since 2008, family run, design through installation.
Where you will see us in Garland
We come in across the Richardson line, and the President George Bush Turnpike carries us around the north of the city. The older neighborhoods near the downtown square are where most of the shade and renovation work sits, and those are the yards with the biggest trees and the oldest lawns.
Further out, the newer subdivisions around Firewheel and the streets running toward Lake Ray Hubbard give us the larger back yards and the pool surrounds. Between the two, there is usually a Palms truck somewhere in Garland any given week.

Outdoor spaces we build in Garland
We cover Garland end to end, from the postwar streets near the square to the newer neighborhoods out toward Lake Ray Hubbard. It is a short run from here into the city of Dallas and up to Plano, both of which we serve as well.
Ask a turf installer
Straight answers about artificial turf in North Texas
How close are you to Garland?
Next door. Garland shares a border with Richardson, where we are based, so it is the shortest drive we make and there is no travel charge on an estimate anywhere in the city.
My Garland lawn has been bare for years. Is it fixable?
The yard is, though usually not with grass. Deep shade and compacted clay beat seed every time, so turf, stone and proper drainage are what actually turn that ground back into usable yard.
Do a lot of Garland homes have drainage problems?
More than people expect. Clay soil takes water slowly, and a lot of older lots were graded toward the house. We look at where water goes before we decide what surface goes down.
Can you replace turf another company installed in Garland?
Yes, and we see it here. Wavy turf and soft corners are base failures, so we lift the old surface, rebuild the ground and the drainage underneath, and relay it correctly.
Will gravel work for the side of my Garland house?
Very well, if it is built rather than tipped. Prepared ground, layered angular stone and a firm edge on both sides keeps it in place and gives water somewhere to drain.
Do you work in the newer Garland neighborhoods too?
Yes, all across the city. The older streets give us shade and renovation work, and the newer subdivisions out toward Firewheel give us the larger back yards and pool surrounds.
