Turf maintenance services
Small jobs that keep a lawn looking new
The pitch for turf is that it saves you the mowing, the watering and the feeding, and that is true. What nobody mentions at the sale is the short list of things it does still want: the fibres brushed back up where you walk, infill kept at the right depth, and debris off the surface before it breaks down into the pile.
Do those and a lawn holds its color and its bounce for years. Skip them and it goes flat in the traffic lanes and dull under the trees, which is what people mean when they say their turf has aged badly.

What does turf maintenance actually involve?
Four things, none of them heavy. Brushing against the grain to stand the fibres back up, which is what restores the look more than anything else. Rinsing, to clear dust, pollen and anything the dogs have left. Topping up infill in the lanes and landing spots where it migrates, so the pile keeps its support. And checking the seams, the perimeter fixings and the drainage points, because those are the things that get worse quietly. It is a short visit, and it is the same crew who install for our Richardson turf customers in the first place.
What does North Texas weather do to a lawn?
More than people expect. Spring brings a heavy pollen load and hard storms that wash debris across a yard. Summer runs long and hot, which bakes dust into the pile. Autumn drops leaves and seed. None of it damages turf, but all of it mats the surface if it is left there.
If you want a sense of what a year here throws at a yard, the National Weather Service office for Dallas and Fort Worth tracks it. A rinse after a storm and a brush after leaf fall covers almost all of it.

Call (972) 464-7000Can maintenance fix a lawn that already looks tired?
Often, yes. A lawn that has gone flat in the walking lines usually comes back with a proper power brush and an infill top up, and one that looks dull is normally just holding a season of dust. What maintenance cannot fix is a bad base: if the yard is rippled, dipping or soft in one corner, brushing it will not help because the problem is underneath. In that case we say so and price it as a rebuild instead. Our page on how a turf lawn is built explains what a proper base is supposed to be.
How often should turf be maintained?
For most home lawns, a good brush and rinse a few times a year is plenty, plus a quick clear after big storms and at the end of leaf fall. Yards with dogs want rinsing more often. Play areas, goal mouths and commercial patios take the most traffic and need the most attention, because that is where the fibres flatten and the infill moves. We will tell you the rhythm your yard actually needs rather than selling you a fixed schedule it does not.

Straight answers about artificial turf in North Texas
Do I really need to brush artificial turf?
In the areas you walk on, yes. Brushing against the grain stands the fibres back up and redistributes the infill. It is the single job that keeps a lawn looking new rather than worn.
Can I maintain my own turf?
Absolutely, and most people do. A stiff broom, a hose and a leaf blower cover it. We are there for the bigger jobs: power brushing, infill top ups and checking seams, edges and drainage.
How do I get rid of weeds around turf?
Weeds do not grow through a properly built lawn. Anything you see is seed that has landed on top or crept in from a bed edge, and it pulls out by hand or wipes off the surface.
Will pets make the lawn smell over time?
Not if it drains and gets rinsed. Odour means liquid is sitting somewhere it should not, which is a drainage or infill issue rather than a cleaning one, and it is worth having looked at.
What if my seams have started to show?
Seams can be reopened and rejoined properly. It usually means they were glued in the wrong conditions or the base moved under them, so we check what is underneath before we close them back up.
Do you maintain turf you did not install?
Yes. We will look at any lawn, tell you honestly whether it is a maintenance job or a base problem, and price only the work that will actually make a difference.
