Commercial turf installation
Outdoor space that looks open for business
Commercial outdoor space has a different job to a back yard. It has to look right every day the doors are open, take hundreds of feet across it, and never be closed for a week while somebody re-sods it. Grass cannot do that in North Texas. Turf can.
We install for restaurants, offices, apartment and townhome courtyards, clubs and event spaces around the Dallas metro. Palms Living Oasis has worked on commercial property since 2008, and the same crew handles the layout, the base and the install, so there is one company answering for the finished surface.
Have a patio, courtyard or lot that lets the place down? Call us and we will come look at it.
Where does commercial turf earn its keep?
Anywhere the ground is on show and nothing will grow. Restaurant patios where chairs scrape the same six feet every night. Apartment and townhome courtyards boxed in by walls, where shade and reflected heat kill grass by June. Office break out areas, event lawns, hotel and clubhouse spaces, showroom frontages, and the strip along a walkway that has been dirt for years. In each of them the surface is what people photograph and what they walk on, which is exactly what our Richardson turf company is set up to fix.
Does turf survive constant foot traffic?
That is what a commercial spec is for. Heavier traffic means a denser base, a shorter and tougher blade, more infill to hold the fibres upright, and seams placed away from the main walking lines. Built that way, a courtyard takes daily use and still stands up when it is brushed.
There is an access side to it too. A commercial surface has to be firm, stable and slip resistant to be part of an accessible route, and the federal ADA standards are the reference for that. We build to a compacted base with flush transitions into paving so the surface behaves like a floor rather than a lawn.

Call (972) 464-7000Can a business add a putting green as an amenity?
Often, and it is one of the cheapest upgrades a property can make to a dead corner. Hotels, clubhouses, offices, senior living communities and apartment complexes all use a small green as the thing residents and guests actually walk out to. It needs a flatter, faster surface than a lawn and it needs contours that make a putt worth taking, which is why we build it as its own thing rather than a patch of ordinary turf. Our page on backyard and amenity greens covers how those are shaped and cut.
How large a space can you cover?
Bigger than most people expect. We supply and install full field surfaces as well as patios and courtyards, so a school, club or sports facility is the same conversation as a restaurant terrace, just with more base work, more logistics and a longer program. Large jobs get sequenced so the site keeps working: sections closed and reopened in order, deliveries timed around trading hours, and the run of the seams planned before anything is cut. Tell us the square footage and what happens on it, and we will tell you what it needs.

Straight answers about artificial turf in North Texas
Can you install without closing the business?
Usually yes. We phase the work so part of the space stays open, and we can schedule demolition and deliveries outside trading hours. Tell us your busiest days and we will plan the sequence around them.
How is commercial turf different from a home lawn?
Denser base, shorter and tougher blade, more infill, and seams routed away from the main walking lines. It is specified for daily traffic rather than for a family and a dog using it at weekends.
What maintenance does a commercial turf area need?
Rinse it, brush the high traffic lanes so the fibres stand back up, and top up infill where it wears thin. It is a quick routine job rather than a mowing, feeding and watering contract.
Does turf work in a shaded courtyard?
It is ideal there. Enclosed courtyards get little direct light and a lot of reflected heat, which is the exact combination grass fails in. Turf does not care, so the space finally stays green.
Can turf go over an existing concrete slab?
In many cases yes, provided the slab drains and is sound. We check falls and surface condition first, then set the right underlay so the finished surface is even and water still has somewhere to go.
Do you handle commercial work outside Richardson?
Yes. We install across the Dallas metro, including Dallas, Irving, Plano, Garland, Frisco and the Park Cities. Give us the address and the square footage and we will come and measure it.
